Being Assured of Heaven
“what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Luke 10:25
Do you know with assurance that you are saved? If your answer is Yes because the preacher told me so, then you are wrong. Your answer should be, Yes because the Bible says I am.
You should be able to say, “I am a Christian today because of what the word of God says.”
Your salvation must be based on Biblical facts, not on circumstances, not on feelings, individuals or denominational creed, or what the preacher or someone else says. They should be able to direct you to the Word of God and point out to you from Scripture, how you are to be saved. Adam was made in the image and likeness of God, which means he was sinless, but when he sinned by disobeying God, sin entered the world. Everyone who is born after Adam has inherited that sinful nature which means the alienation that Adam experienced from God, has been passed down through Adam’s race to us.
We are all sinners in the sight of God. No one is born righteous. No one is born perfect. We are all born sinners regardless of how we look, our social standing, or our educational qualifications, we are all sinners. But God has made it possible for us to be redeemed from that state.
God has decreed that the paradise He has reserved for those who belong to Jesus Christ, can only be occupied by those who have experienced a Spiritual birth. This is a new birth, a different kind of birth that is far from natural birth through our earthly parents. This spiritual birth is experienced because of Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross of Calvary. Just as Adam at his creation, lay on the ground lifeless until God breathed in his nostrils the breath of life and the Bible says, he became a living soul, so at our Spiritual birth, Jesus comes to us in our unsaved condition and He breathes in us a new spirit, a spirit of regeneration which gives us access into the presence of God. That comes through faith in Jesus Christ. When we accept the Word of God for what it says and receives Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour, that moment we are born of God. You have been changed from Adam to Christ.
This new birth then is based upon a spiritual encounter with Jesus Christ, based upon the gospel message as it is preached. When you make the decision to accept Christ as Saviour, whether it is at the altar during an altar call, or if you are in your seat or have gone home from service, the moment you accept Christ, you are born again and saved by the matchless grace of God.
You can base this truth on what the word of God says. The Word of God says he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved (Matt. 16:16). It also says, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shalt be saved (Romans 10:13) Also, if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)
This is the whole truth of Salvation and how you can be assured of Heaven.
Question: Have you made your decision to accept Christ as Saviour?
Thought: A Salvation decision delayed, could mean access to Heaven denied.
Action: Take the Word of God and accept Christ today and be assured of Heaven.
